Ladybird Trend A/W 2012/13

This was a recent project where I had to find a trend for autumn/winter 2012/13 and adapt it to a client - in this case it was Miss Selfridge. I chose the 'Ladybird' trend which is a highly feminine, flirty and sophisticated trend that is very suitable to the Miss Selfridge style. It involves many feminine silhouettes such as the puffball and peplum, as well as pretty pastel colours and of course the famous polka dot/dog-toothed prints. The twist with this trend is that it mixes many different elements such as colour and fabric especially, from dark leathers to light coloured silks. To make this trend my own I involved faux fur, faux bird feathers, gold foil-like fabric and for the polka dot print I chose to use dalmatian print as a more newer and more interesting print.

NYLON Magazine Photoshoot

This was a Uni project for one of my modules in my first term of my second year which I am currently in. This project involved us researching a magazine thoroughly and considering all its aspects in order to carry out your own photoshoot that would appeal to the magazine. The theme of the shoot was diversity in relation to the All Walks campaign where they are encouraging more diverse models to be used. I thoroughly enjoyed this project as I had to study and research my subject which was 'shortness', looking into average heights of models and what was considered 'short' in model terms. It was difficult at first as you have to be careful to not be unethical and the photoshoot had to express 'shortness'. So I ended up using one large piece of clothing in each shot in order to show my model's petite height, however, I additionally used clothes that flattered her figure to illustrate that she was model material and did look good! I wanted to encourage a happy appearance within my photoshoot to show that my model was enjoying herself and that she was confident, thus hopefully  presenting 'shortness' in a positive way.

A Frozen Christmas Eve Afternoon

I took this photo on whilst visiting my family in Sweden over Christmas. Here my brother and my boyfriend are standing on a bridge by the frozen lake near my grandparents house in Albo, waiting for the hot dogs to be grilled. It is their dark silhouettes and the natural yellow light from the sun-down which magnifies this photo.

She Draws Etsy Shop

This is a girl named Laura Figiel and I found her through google when I was browsing quirky jewellery. I came across these images of amazing hand-made jewellery and was straight away drawn by her distinctive and creative design technique - how she uses simple hand drawings on plastic and it creates such a fantastic piece of jewellery that I would love to have. Laura is inspired by many things such as flowers, French, geometrical shapes, seasons and vintage, and she is clearly very talented. she does not only create jewellery but she also makes other accessories, household items and clothes. If your interested check out her website as she sells all her products on there too:  http://www.etsy.com/people/Shedraws?ref=pr_profile
